The upcoming event of the Holy Year, which foresees sixty-two million persons visiting Rome in the year 2000, is anticipated in Palombo's woodblock prints, entitled "Improbable points of view" .
The fairly realistic woodcuts represent certain scenes of Rome. They capture Rome's light and atmosphere and evoke a visual replay of the city in our minds. A strong atmosphere mixed with history and nostalgia is conveyed in these interesting works. The artist uses much liberty with flowing colorful forms generally abstract and enhancing the vigorous impact of the Classical and Baroque figures and architecture.
These expressive prints strike a vibrant note in the heart of the lover of art and history. They will give much pleasure as an introduction to, or recalling one's personal experience of the Grand Old Lady.
Inspired by the enthusiastic energy springing out in Rome around the debut of the Third Millennium, Fulvio Palombo has produced colored woodblock prints in a limited edition commemorating this important event.

The lovely church of St. Maria della Pace by Pietro da Cortona (1656-57 A.D.) is captured with a delicate overlapping of the Bernini's Angel (1668 A.D.) found in the church of St. Andrea delle Fratte.

Blessed Ludovica Albertoni by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1674), found in the church of San Francesco a Ripa, and the lovely church of Santa Maria della Pace by Pietro da Cortona, are proposed in a convincing overlapping that does not betray the rhythm of Baroque lines, shapes and movement.
